Series 001 reflects on designer William Baltazar’s time studying industrial design at a traditional American university in rural Virginia. The culture and tropes surrounding these types of institutions, as well as the designer’s interests at the time, were analyzed and synthesized to create this collection. Themes associated with American collegiate life, such as tweed fabrics and Barbour jackets, were studied and reinterpreted in minimal silhouettes to give these classic designs a contemporary feeling free from their established connotations.
